A total number of 72,330 new cases for coronavirus are reported in the country in the last 24 hours and the total tally of cases touched 1,22,21,665. The total number of recovered cases for coronavirus are said to be 1,14,74,683 and the number of active cases for coronavirus are 5,84,055. The death toll in the country reached 1,62,927. The total number of people who took up coronavirus vaccination in India are said to be 6,51,17,896. 39,544 new cases are reported in Maharashtra alone and Chhattisgarh reported a huge spike with 4653 new cases for coronavirus. The daily deaths too increased on a rapid note and 459 deaths are reported in the country in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra reported 243 deaths in the country in the last 24 hours.

The third phase of the coronavirus vaccination drive started today across the country and all the people above the age of 45 years can take up the coronavirus vaccination in their nearest hospitals after getting registered. 90 percent of the deaths reported in the country are aged above 45 years. The Centre asked the states to increase the vaccination drive so that most of the people aged above 45. Karnataka reported 4000 cases. Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat account to 80 percent of the total number of cases. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh warned of imposing strict guidelines in a week if the situation of coronavirus will not improve in the state. Pune reported 8553 infections in a day which is the highest till date. One can register self for Covid-19 vaccination through the government’s Co-Win portal using the link–cowin.gov.in to take up the vaccination shot.
