India Most Dangerous Country in World for Foreigners: SurveySeptember 11, 2019 17:17

A survey by Expat Insider said India is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for foreigners. Among 64 countries in the world, India is ranked fifth from the bottom in terms of safety and security.
In the survey, over four in ten respondents had negative feelings over the peacefulness in India. About 27 percent of respondents were incensed with their personal safety in the country.
The survey, citing an example said if a U.S. American expat does not always have to keep a guard up - as a female, she doesn’t feel safe. As a resident, the expat often feels taken advantage of at work and outside work.
Last year, a number of reports surfaced online of international tourists being sexually assaulted or raped in different parts of India. Some of the tourists are even pursuing civil cases in Indian courts to bring the wrongdoers to justice.
According to the survey, the respondents also expressed their concern regarding the political stability in India, where the government has introduced policies like denying citizenship to millions of Bengali Muslim immigrants in the state of Assam.
The survey also found that almost twofold of the global average rate political stability of India negatively. An Australian expat believes that politics has become hardline, and there are social tensions.
In addition, sanitary issues have also highlighted in the survey. The concerns revolving around health, cleanliness, provision to toilets remain at large for tourists. Some as well think leisure options are some of the areas where India needs to improve drastically. For health and well being, India has been placed at 60 out of 64 whereas, for leisure options, the country has been placed at 63 out of 64.
Besides India, countries like Brazil, South Africa, Nigeria, and Argentina are ranked very unsafe for expats. The survey has covered and interviewed people who live and work abroad to research the topic.
