Choose a sunscreen that provides protection from UVA (skin-aging) and UVB (skin-burning) rays.
Go for a sunscreen with SPF-15 at least. In case you have to spend more than two hours in the sun then opt for a sunscreen with SPF 30.
Even when you are in water you need sun protection. Use a waterproof sunscreen while swimming. But you need to reapply the senscreen after 40-80 minutes in water.
For those who have oily or acne-prone skin there are water-based sunscreens from various brands.
In case your skin has an allergic reaction to a sunscreen then you can choose another one from a different brand. All sunscreens don't have the same ingredients.
Avoid sunscreens that have oxybenzone, retinyl palmitate and parabens in their ingredients. These could harm your skin as they are potentially carcinogenic.
