The holiday season is a time for the beaches or the mountains. After the fun-filled vacation, most of us look tired with skin problems. You can enjoy your holidays and still have a great skin. Read on to find out how to to protect your skin.
Your beauty regimen goes for a toss while staying away from home. So make sure to follow these beauty essentials while travelling.
Use sun screen
This is the most important holiday beauty tips. Try to avoid the sun at its peak. Wear loose fitted clothes that cover the sensitive areas of your body. Whether you holiday at the beaches or in the hill stations wear a sun screen. Choose a good quality sun screen with at least 35 SPF (or higher). Apply it on your face, neck and other exposed areas of your body 20 minutes before you head out in the sun. Make sure you apply the sunscreen three times in a day if you are outdoor.
Use face mist for hydration
The summer air is dry and needs frequent hydration.Keep your skin hydrates by spraying face mist during the entire vacation. Opt for a face mist that contains floral waters, pure essential oils, vegetable glycerin, witch hazel and menthol. Avoid alcohol based mists as they dry up the skin. Carry it everywhere – to the beaches or while sightseeing. The face mist helps to keep you refreshed and prevents excess oil deposit on your skin.
Daily cleansing
Cleanse your face properly everyday to prevent oil and dirt build-up on the skin. This will prevent blocked pores, blackheads or breakouts.
Use a light lotion-based non-foaming cleanser to clean your face. Foaming cleansers have chemical ingredients that cause skin dryness. Those with oily skin, can opt for a light gel-based cleanser with exfoliating beads.
Restore the skin balance by using toner after cleansing daily. A toner control oil formation and removes excess dirt and bacteria from pores. Choose a toner that is free from alcohol, fragrances or artificial colours. If you have very dry skin, give the toner a miss.
Keep your skin moisturised through out the day. Use a nourishing moisturiser that is light and non-greasy. Opt for a moisturiser with natural oils like sweet almond, apricot kernel and jojoba. These will moisturise your skin but won't clog the pores. Avoid moisturisers that contain petrolatum, mineral oil, fragrances and artificial colours. These may cause skin irritation and block skin pores in warmer weather. Also use a face mist to re-hydrate skin at least three time during the day.
