BCCI Sacks Virat Kohli as ODI Captain

Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli decided to step down from his position as the captain for the format of T20s to focus more on his batting. In a sudden shock and surprise, the BCCI announced that Rohit Sharma will lead India and sacked Virat Kohli as ODI captain. Virat Kohli three months ago revealed that he would continue to lead the team in ODIs and Tests. He also gave up the captaincy for his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore. BCCI announced the Test squad for the tour of South Africa. “The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward.” told the statement.

Rohit Sharma is also named as the Vice-Captain for the Test cricket format and Ajinkya Rahane was replaced. Virat Kohli is one of the most successful captains of the country in all formats. in 95 ODIs, he won 65 with a win percentage of 70. Rohit Sharma has been his deputy for a while and now Rohit is promoted as the captain for ODIs. The Board consulted Virat Kohli before taking the decision. Rohit Sharma managed to get five IPL titles for his team Mumbai Indians. Virat Kohli scored 560 runs in 12 ODIs in the last two years with an average of 46.66 and his career average happens to be 59.07. Veteran cricketer Rahul Dravid is the new coach of Team India.
