BCCI's Welcome Move for Equal Fees for Indian Men and Women Cricketers

Cricket is a sport that is widely admired and respected in the country. But the pay of the Indian men cricketers is no way matching for the women cricketers. There have been debates about the same but BCCI never responded for the same. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah recently confirmed that the women cricketers will earn the same match fees as the men or the male cricketers in the coming days. The pay would be equal for all the international matches in the coming future. This is a great move and it received wide appreciation across the nation. The women cricketers expressed their happiness and thanked the officials of BCCI for the move.

The decision has been taken at the 15th BCCI Apex Council Meeting and all the members of the council agreed for the decision unanimously. Legendary women cricketer Mithali Raj called it a historic decision for the women cricketers in the country. The women cricketers will earn Rs 15 lakhs for a test match and Rs 6 lakhs for an ODI match. They will also get Rs 3 lakhs for a T20 international which is currently paid for the men cricketers. "I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian Cricket" posted Jay Shah.
