Premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer, taking a six-wicket haul in the first session, which proved to be a game-changer for India. Meanwhile, Aiden Markram fought hard for South Africa, scoring a century to give them a fighting chance.

South Africa was eventually bowled out for 176, and India, led by Rohit Sharma, chased down the target of 79 with ease, securing a 7-wicket victory at Newlands. This win is significant as it marks India's first-ever victory at Cape Town. Moreover, this Test match was the shortest completed Test in history, adding to the excitement.

On the first day of the match, 23 wickets fell as both teams experienced drastic batting collapses. India's Mohammed Siraj stood out with his maiden six-wicket haul, dismantling the South African lineup for just 55 runs in their first innings. However, South Africa fought back in the second innings after a remarkable bowling display from Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada, who took wickets in quick succession. South Africa's Nandre Burger also played a crucial role before tea, taking three wickets to keep his team in the game. However, India's superb bowling performance in South Africa's second innings, led by Mukesh Kumar, Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Bumrah, secured the victory for India.

This victory is historic for India, as they became the first Asian team to beat South Africa at Cape Town. With this win, India leveled the series 1-1, with one Test remaining.
