Before the curtains come down on World Cup 2014, Brazil will see a grand celebration. On July 13, pop star Shakira will perform in Rio de Janeiro, before the World Cup final match.

Shakira will sing La la la (Brazil 2014) along with the Brazilian star Carlinhos Brown at the closing ceremony, according to a statement issued by Fifa. The pop singer will be accompanied by guitar virtuoso Carlos Santana and rapper Wyclef Jean.

This will be Shakira's third straight appearance at the football World Cup.

The official anthem of the tournament, Dar Um Jeito, will be performed by Santana, Wyclef and Brazilian singer Alexandre Pires at the Maracana Stadium. Besides, the closing ceremony will see Pires perform a medley of Brazilian music with local star Ivete Sangalo.

Shakira, who had a son with Spain defender Gerard Pique last year, says she is thrilled about performing her song La la la at the closing ceremony of 2014 Fifa World Cup.

The pop icon says she has an intricate relationship with the game. Shakira went on to say that she can identify the passion football lovers have for the World Cup as she is herself one of them.

Shakira's native country Colombia will play against Brazil in the quarter-final on Friday. The others lined up for the quarter finals include France against Germany. On Saturday, Argentina will play against Belgium and then there will be the quarter-final between Netherlands and Costa Rica.
