Indian boxer M.C. Mary Kom punched her way to win a gold medal at the Incheon Asian Games on Wednesday. World's fifth ranked Mary Kom defeated Kazakhstan's Zhaina Shekerbekova to win her first gold at an Asian Games event. Her victory had raised India's gold count to seven at Incheon, South Korea.

India's 31-year-old champion defeated Shekerbekova, who is six years her junior. Mary was at her  best in the final bout of women's flyweight (48-51 kg) division. Shekerbekova put up a stiff fight, but Mary's combination of right and left jabs won her the gold.

The 'Supermom' from India began slowly – taking time to study Shekerbekova's approach before unleashing her full magnificience against the Kazak. Her 14 years old experience in boxing helped her to claim the top honours at the event.

Mary Kom, who is a five-time world champion, was confident ahead of the Asian Games that she will settle for nothing less than a gold at the event.
