A year back, when Blackberry launched its Z10, both expectations and anticipations were running high. But the steep price tag served as a dampener, killing both the zeal and its market. After all, how could Blackberry think of pricing its product to Apple's top-of-the-line iPhone? But thanks to its well-publicized write down, today the Z10 sells as low as Rs15,000.

Cut to the present and we have Blackberry's new kid, Z3, on the block, that squarely competes with its own premium predecessor, the Z10.

Made by Foxconn and jointly designed by BlackBerry and Foxconn, the BlackBerry Z3 is a mid-range smartphone, but not your typical budget smartphone. For starters, it doesn’t feel cheap, but quite premium, despite being made of plastic.

The 5-inch smartphone weighs 164g and measures about 9.3mm in depth — not the slimmest or the lightest in the family, but it is sturdy and durable. The non-removable battery phone squuezes in a 2500mAh battery. Overall, the build and design of the Z3 is impressive. It’s not the most comfortable for single-handed use, but for a budget phone, you can't bargain for any better.

The Z3 comes with 10.2.1 out of the box and gets features like direct APK installations, themes for icons and UI elements, the Priority Hub, actionable lock screen notifications and lots more.

It is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon 400 SoC and has 1.5GB of RAM onboard.

The 5MP camera doesn't function very good under lighting. Battery life is one of the highlights of the phone. The 2500 mAh battery gives the Z3 a huge boost in terms of operational time.

Coming at a price tag of Rs 15,990 the price of the Z3 exceeds price expectations. For all you didn't know, BlackBerry is offering a pre-order price of Rs 14,990. So go, grab it if you want.
