Mukesh Ambania's palatial 27-storeyed bungalow, the Antilia, not only towers above Mumbai skyline, but also other billion-dollar residences on the planet.

Named after the mythical Atlantic island, the 400,000 square-foot skyscraper has been named by Forbes as the the most expensive home on Earth.

Priced around $1 billion - $ 2 billion, Ambani's Antilia stands millions of dollars ahead of the next house on Forbes list, which belongs to Brazilian philanthropist Lily Safra's Villa Leopolda at Villefranche-sur-mer in France.

Despite all that, “the title of the most outrageously expensive property in the world still belongs to Mukesh Ambani's Antilia in Mumbai," says Forbes.

All in all, 21 'billionaire homes' features in Forbes' most expensive billionaire home list. And Ambani isn't the only Indian to cinch a slot there. Indian origin steel baron Lakshmi Mittal too occupied the fifth and the 18th slots, with his two bungalows in London's 'Billionaire Boulevard' Kensington Palace Gardens.

Mukessh Ambani's residential complex stands tall in South Mumbai and has a staff of 600 to maintain the residence. It was build by Chicago based architects Perkins + Will. And the best part, the house is earthquake-proof to some extent.
