Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that the winter session of parliament beginning today will be as productive as the budget session.

Speaking to the media after the all-party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, "The PM said the government is ready to take up all issues."

The government has lined up 37 bills for introduction and another 19 for passage during the session. The list includes GST bill, Insurance act amendment bill and Lokpal bill amendments.

Opposition parties, led by the Congress, are set to play hardball over the Modi government's legislative agenda on reforms even as the Centre has lined up an extensive list of business for the winter session of Parliament that starts Monday.

While the Left parties, Trinamool Congress, JD(U), RJD, SP and BSP are planning a joint opposition to the Insurance Bill, they hope the Congress will come along. Kharge, however, said his party would first see the amendments the government planned.
