Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu while answering to a question at a seminar on Monday in Hyderabad said that scarcity of money in Indian railways is the burden of the common man, in reply gave a hint of the chance may increase in passenger fares may be possible during the Rail budget session which is going to held next month
Prabhu made this appeal during a seminar of the Centre for Transportation Research and Management (CTRAM) in Hyderabad. The theme of the seminar was Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and FDI IN Indian Railways.
When it was asked that weather, his statement leads towards Indian Railways was in a bad financial position meant an imminent increase in fares, then Prabhu said “Burden of railways is burden of common man as the railway belong to common man. We have to make sure that when how Railways are run properly, giving more benefits and more amenities to a common man”.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has also made a strong path to acquiring fund in the form of investment from all possible sources to develop the infrastructure development in Railway sector. Apart from calling for new ideas and innovative decision which can suits to current expectation.
Prabhu also said that Indian Railways will not be privatized and will be continued to run by the govt,” The Indian railways will be driven by the hands of Indian railway ministry only”. Financial institutions are looking for reasonable interest not on the ownership, said Suresh Prabhu.
Any decisions by the govt on involvement of PPP and FDI would be enabled for growth of the railways and the economy. He particularly stressed on improvement of efficiency and productivity in Railways.
