Mohammed Naved Yakub, LeT terrorist who was caught for the attack on the BSF convoy in J&K's Udhampur, will make a confessional statement before a magistrate on Wednesday for the role of terror group in carrying out strikes like in the Udhampur attack.

Amid tight security, the Pakistani resident in early 20s was presented on Monday before special NIA court. According to official sources, when he was later taken to chief judicial magistrate, it was informed by the investigating agency that the accused is willing to make a confessional statement.

Along with Mohammed Noman alias Momin, his accomplice, Naved operated a terror attack on a BSF convoy on 5 August in Udhampur. The striking killed two of the border guarding force personnels. The retaliatory fire killed Momin, Naved was caught alive. Two villagers whom Naved wanted to kidnap have deceived and nabbed him.

Till Monday Naved was in the custody of NIA, which earlier informed that the accused was being at CJM's court taken to begin the process of recording his confessional statement under 164 criminal procedure code.

Naved was for two days under judicial custody. Then he would be presented before a magistrate where his confessional statement would be written and even videographed. The accused was given 48 hours to give a chance for him to rethink over and decide if he wanted to make a confessional statement suo motu.

On Wednesday, Naved would be produced before the chief judicial magistrate assigned magistrate. Lie detector test report would also be produced to the magistrate.

During extensive questioners by NIA and sleuths of intelligence agencies, Naved identified the truck driver Khursheed Ahmed Bhat. The truck driver has since been arrested. Terror outfit's South Kashmir-based commander, Abu Qassim’s picture was also provided by the Lashker terrorist. A cash reward of Rs 10 lakh was announced by the agency for any information resulting in Qassim’s arrest.
