Indian Navy to showcase their Warships “off coast” Singapore

According to reports, the Indian Navy’s top-of-the-line stealth frigates, Boeing P-8I anti-submarine and maritime reconnaissance aircraft will be part of a 6 day advanced exercise with the Singapore Navy from Malacca Straits to South China Sea this month. The exercise will take place “off coast” Singapore from May 18.

Sources said that Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri, which has Brahmos (Supersonic cruise missiles) in its arsenal along with ‘Kamorta missile corvette’, will participate in the International Maritime Review to commemorate 50 years of the Singapore Navy.

Indian Navy Chief Sunil Lanba will attend the event along with delegates of top Indian defense companies such as Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL), Goa Ship Yard, Bharat Dynamics Limited, Ordnance Factory Board, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Larsen and Toubro in the International Maritime Defense Exhibition to explore hardware export opportunities.

The two Indian ships will be joined by NS Shivalik, tanker INS Jyoti and P-8I aircraft on May 18.

The Singapore Navy’s top ships and maritime patrol fighter aircraft like F-15s will join the exercise.

The bilateral exercise will be aimed at the defense of the strategic Malacca Straits, which is the most important doorway to the South China Sea.

India will be expanding its naval footprint, as their warships will make port calls at Malaysia’s Djakarta, Kuantan port, Port Moresby, Surabaya in Java and Freemantle port in Australia.

In the meantime, three Indian warships, led by guided missile destroyer INS Mumbai, have reached Haifa in Israel on a goodwill mission.
