Indian American Theoretical Physicist E C G Sudarshan Cremated in U.S

The Reputable India-American theoretical physicist Ennackal Chandy George Sudarshan, popularly known as E C G Sudarshan, has been cremated in Texas, United States. His family and friends attended his final rites.
The 86-year-old physics passed away on Monday of natural causes in Austin, Texas. Sudarshan survived by his wife, Bhamathi Sudarshan and two children, Alex and Ashok. The last rites were performed at the Beck Funeral home near Roundrock.
The University of Texas, where he worked as a professor since 1969 mourned his death. Several students and faculty from the university attended the cremation service and spoke few words about the professor and his works.
Consul Ashok Sockalingam represented Consul General of India at Houston who was a close friend of Sudarshan for the past 50 years and he further proposed to establish a scholarship or a lecture series in the name of a noted physicist.
Sudarshan was born in Pallam, Kerala in 1931, and completed his Post-Graduation from Madras Christian College. He received is Doctorate from University of Rochester, New York in 1958.
One of Sudarshan’s work in the field of quantum optics in 1963 received Nobel Prize and Indian government recognized and awarded him the second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan in 2007.
Three years later he was awarded with Dirac Medal in the field of theoretical physics, computational chemistry and mathematics.
