Former SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya hired as India CEO by Salesforce

Arundhati Bhattacharya who is one of India’s best known formers bankers has been hired by the US cloud- based service provider Salesforce.com Inc as its India Chief Executive Officer, as mentioned by a source with direct knowledge of the matter to Reuters on Tuesday.

However, Arundhati Bhattacharya has declined to comment, Salesforce has also not responded to a request for comment.

Arundhati Bhattacharya has previously headed the State Bank of India (SBI) which is the largest lender of the country and she has also been the first woman to lead the bank which is more than 200 years old and and retired from the State Bank f India in the year 2017 after she has spent four decades in various roles.

The source who is aware of the new appointment has described Arundhati Bhattacharya as a hugely credible name who comes with a wealth of experience and that she would help in expanding Salesforce in India.

The source has also added saying that, Arundhati Bhattacharya who is of 64 years of age would be based in the Mumbai city and would be joining in the month of April.

Arundhati Bhattacharya is currently working as a chairman of SWIFT India which is a part of the global payments network.

Salesforce is said to provide an array of cloud storage and the digital services to the clients in India which is seen as one of the fastest growing regions by Salesforce. Parker Harris who is the co- founder of Salesforce has met the trade minister of India in New Delhi in the month of January and had briefed him regarding the growth plans of the company.

The company Salesforce is said to be creating more than 500,000 jobs and $ 67 billion in the new business revenues in India through the year 2024, based on a report in the year 2019 by the International Data Corporation and the government of India has also partnered with the company in working towards the skills development.
