Donald Trump had announced the closure of the Whitehouse Coronavirus Task Force. A day after that he said it will stay and new members will be added.

On Tuesday, he quoted, "The task force has done a great job and I had a meeting yesterday, I had a meeting this morning probably even more importantly, and so we will be leaving the task force indefinitely.”

Trump had established this task force in January and it is headed by Vice President Mike Pence.

According to a statement to PTI, He said, “We are keeping the task force for a period of time. I look forward to when we can close the task force because then the job will be essentially hopefully over.”

Looking at the data, the US has recorded 12,00,000 confirmed cases and more than 70,000 deaths. Whereas, Europe reported over 1,40,000 deaths.

However, there is another side to this move.

Further, at a White House event recognizing the National Nurses Day, he said, “I thought we could wind it down sooner, but I had no idea how popular the task force is until actually yesterday, when I started talking about winding it down. I would get calls from very respected people, saying I think it would be better to keep it going, it has done such a good job, it is a respected task force.”

In another White House event, Trump said that two of its top health officials, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx will continue to be members of the task force.
