Patanjali launched a new Ayurvedic medicine for treatment of Coronavirus called Coronil on Tuesday.

Patanjali an Indian ayurvedic brand unveiled the medicine Coronil in Uttarakhand. The medicine was unveiled by Swami Ramdev, the Yoga guru at a press conference at Patanjali’s headquarters in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

It claims to treat the patients within the span of 7 days. They claim 100% favorableresult has been shown on patients during clinical trials. When the whole country has been waiting for a cure or even a vaccine for corona, Baba Ramdev says they are “proud to announce that the first Ayurvedic, clinically controlled trial based evidence and research based medicine has been prepared by the combined efforts of Patanjali Research Centre and NIMS”

Patanjali has launched 2 medicines for Coviid-19, namely Coronil and Swasari in the afternoon. Patanjali has informed that they have conducted 2 clinical trials. The first clinical study including 280 patients in cities like Delhi and Ahmedabad and that there was a 100% recovery rate on all the 280 patients. After the success of this study they also conducted all the necessary clinical control trails.

These medicines were prepared in collaboration with National Institute of medical Sciences University in Jaipur. 95 patients of these 280 patients clinical study was done with the help of NIMS. In this study they saw 69 percent recovery rate within the first 3 days. The 69% patients were tested negative for coronavirus in just 3 days after testing positive.  

On being asked if they had approvals to conduct the studiesand trials, they said that all the necessary approvals for conducting trials of the medicine on patients had been taken from competent authorities.

The Chief Executive Officer of Patanjali Ayurveda, Acharya Balakrishna had claimed that the patients treated by these ayurvedic medicines have tested negative. In an interview to a news agency, Balakrishna mentioned that they had appointed a team of scientists after the outbreak of Covid-19. While explanation of the process he said that the first step was the completion simulation and the compounds for the cure were identified. Later they conducted a clinical case study on hundreds of positive patients and that they also received and resulted in 100 percent favorable outcome.

After various types of medicines both western and traditional have been claiming to provide cure for the disease, World Health Organization stepped in to put a word of caution for alternative cure claims. In the statement they mentioned that some western, traditional and also home remedies may provide and depress the symptoms of Covid-19, there has been no evidence that any current medicines launched in the market can prevent or cure the disease. WHO also does not recommend self-medication with any and every medicines including antibiotics, as a prevention or cure for Covid-19. World Health Organization also confirmed that there are a lot of trials going on which include both traditional and western medicines.

World Health Organization has claimed that there is no scientific evidence of any alternative cure for the pandemic Covid-19. However, there are a lot of countries who have been testing and researching for the developing of the vaccine for the global health crisis.
