Dharampal Gulati, MDH Owner, Passes Away At 97

Who is not aware of MDH? We are all well-versed with this aromatic and delicious spices masala brand.

Having said, the owner of MDH, Dharampal Gulati, passed away on December 3 at the age of 97.

He was famous with the names dadaji and Mahashayji. He was born on March 27, 1923 in Sialkot (now, Pakistan) and moved to India after partition.

Interestingly, he shined as an entrepreneur even though he was a drop out from school. He studied till class 5 and accompanied his father's in business in Sialkot.

After he moved to India, he opened a shop at Karol Bagh in Delhi. With his hardwork and dedication, today it is a 1,500 crore empire, with 15 factories supplying 1000 dealers across the country.

Along with doing well in his profession he served the needy by opening around 20 schools with an intention to provide good education to the young.

He is connected with educational institutions, such as MDH International School, Mahashay Chunnilal Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Mata Leela Wati Kanya Vidhayalan and Mahashay Dharmpal Vidhya Mandir, among others.

In the memory of his mother, Mata Chanan Devi, in 1984, he started a super-specialty hospital in Janakpuri, New Delhi.

Besides being a well-known hospital for cardiology and neuro sciences, the hospital helps less fortunate individuals with free medical services.

For his yeoman services to the society, in 2019, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
