Seven Soldiers Killed after a Road Mishap in Ladakh

Seven army soldiers got killed and 19 people got injured in a road mishap near the Ladakh river. The vehicle carrying 26 army jawans skidded off the road and plunged into the Shyok river in Ladakh. The road mishap took place in the Turtuk sector and the vehicle fell from a height of 50-60 feet. All the victims were rushed into a field hospital in Partapur and the surgical teams have been deployed from Leh. Seven of them have been declared dead and 19 others were injured. Some of the injured soldiers are moved to Army Command Hospital in Chandimandir near Panchkula district in Haryana told the official statement from the Indian Army. The accident took place at 9 AM on Friday.

“Anguished by the bus accident in Ladakh in which we have lost our brave army personnel. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope those injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being given to the affected” tweeted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to the Army Chief and inquired about the incident. "A party of 26 soldiers was moving from the Transit Camp in Partapur to a forward location in Sub Sector Hanif. At approximately 9 am, around 25 km from Thoise, the vehicle skidded off the road and fell in Shyok river (to a depth of approximately 50-60 ft), resulting in injuries to all occupants," told the official statement of the Indian Army.
