The ruling party of Tamil Nadu, the DMK, has been accused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of neglecting the state's interests regarding the Katchatheevu island issue. According to a news report cited by Modi, it has been revealed that the then chief minister M Karunanidhi of the DMK had agreed to the agreement despite the party's public opposition to it. This information was obtained through an RTI reply received by the Tamil Nadu BJP president. Modi emphasized that the DMK has failed to take any action to protect Tamil Nadu's interests. He also criticized the Congress party, stating that they and the DMK only prioritize the success of their own family members, disregarding the well-being of others. This indifference towards the Katchatheevu issue has negatively affected the livelihood of the state's fishermen. The prime minister had previously directed his criticism towards the Congress party regarding this matter.
Rhetoric aside, DMK has done NOTHING to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests. New details emerging on #Katchatheevu have UNMASKED the DMK’s double standards totally.

Congress and DMK are family units. They only care that their own sons and daughters rise. They don’t care for anyone…
For 75 years and still going strong, the Congress has upheld its commitment to integrity and the welfare of the people. The BJP sees this as a valuable opportunity to make political progress in the Dravidian region during the Lok Sabha elections. This is especially significant because it involves Sri Lanka, a neighboring country with a history of contentious treatment towards its Tamilian citizens and Tamil Nadu fishermen, which has been a prominent political issue in the state.
