Two high-ranking doctors from Sassoon General Hospital, a government-run facility, have been arrested by the Pune city police. They stand accused of tampering with a blood sample belonging to a minor boy who, driving under the influence of alcohol, allegedly hit and killed two young engineers on May 19. Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the forensic medicine department, and Dr. Shrihari Harnol were taken into custody. Witnesses report that the boy was beaten by bystanders at the scene before being handed over to the police. An FIR was filed against him at the Yerwada police station at around 8 am, and he was later taken to Sassoon Hospital for a medical examination. However, there was a delay in collecting his blood samples, which Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has acknowledged.

The Pune city police took a DNA sample from the boy as a precautionary measure after he was involved in a fatal accident on May 19. The police originally charged the boy with negligence under Section 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), but later added the more severe Section 304 for culpable homicide, as well as Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act for drunk driving. On May 19, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) granted him bail with certain conditions, such as writing an essay, learning traffic safety norms, and attending counseling. However, due to public outcry, the JJB sent him to an observation home until June 5. It is crucial to promptly notify the wireless control room and higher-ranking officials regarding the accident. Additionally, authorities have apprehended the father and grandfather of the underage suspect's real estate agent in relation to the Porsche collision that occurred in Pune.
