Surendra Agarwal, the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy who crashed his Porsche into two IT professionals, has been arrested by Pune Police for threatening the driver, Gangaram. Agarwal is accused of forcing Gangaram to give false police statements claiming he was driving the Porsche during the fatal accident. This marks the third FIR in the Porsche crash case. In a new case, Agarwal was arrested at 3 am from his Brahma Suncity residence by the Pune crime branch. Following his arrest, police searched Agarwal's bungalow. According to police, Agarwal was one of the owners of the realty firm that owned the Porsche. Earlier, the Pune crime branch had questioned Agarwal to investigate his son and grandson's involvement and conversations concerning the accident. CBI sources revealed that Agarwal is already facing trial for making payments to gangster Chhota Rajan in a shootout case.

On the day of the accident, the driver was taken captive by the accused, Surendra Agarwal, who confiscated his phone and pressured him to take the blame. The driver's family eventually found him at Agarwal's residence and rescued him, but he has since lived in fear. The crime branch took the driver's statement, which revealed that he was not actually driving the Porsche at the time of the accident, but had initially claimed to be under duress. The teenager involved in the accident was granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board, but following public outcry and a review plea by the police, he was remanded to an observation home until June 5th. Despite Pune Police's request that the minor be tried as an adult, the JJB has not yet made a decision on this matter. Amitesh Kumar has reported that they have submitted a request to the Juvenile Justice Board. The request is to try the juvenile as an adult and to send them to a remand home.
