Mihir Shah, the main accused in the Mumbai attack case, told police during interrogation that he had made a "big mistake" and his "career was over". According to this official, Mumbai Police does not believe the suspect's statement. “I made a big mistake,” Mihir told police in his confession. Late on Wednesday (July 10), police reconstructed the crime scene in Worli area. There, Mihir crashed into the couple's scooter, dragging a 45-year-old woman out of his BMW and killing her. He and the family driver Rajirishi Bidwat, also accused in the case, were taken there. However, the police said they did not believe their statements and launched an investigation. While investigating the case, Mumbai Police found that the prime suspect had consumed alcohol twice before the accident, forced Bidwat from the driver's seat and started driving the BMW himself. After Mihir left a bar in Juhu (where the 24-year-old man and his two friends were reportedly carrying 12 large pints of whiskey), he and Borivali met again for a drink, police said. He forced him to get up from the driver's seat and started driving himself.

Mihir, the son of a Shiv Sena politician, had earlier told police that he was behind the wheel at the time of the accident that killed Kaveri Nakwa and injured her husband. Police charged him with manslaughter, which is not murder. Mihir, who was in police custody until July 16, claimed to have a driving license but police have not yet recovered the document. Officials say statements of 14 people, including his mother, sisters and friends, have been recorded so far. According to authorities, the defendant was fully aware that the woman was trapped under one of the vehicle's tires after hitting the couple's scooter. However, he continued to drive recklessly and did not stop despite passing drivers waving and yelling, officials said. The horrific accident was captured by CCTV cameras installed at Mela Junction and Bindu Madhav Thackeray Chowk in Worli. This officer added: After crossing the road, the other driver asked Mihir to stop, but Mihir did not listen and continued driving.

After the incident, he and his family, who lives in the suburbs of Borivali, and his grandfather, who lives in Pulghar, left their homes and went missing. He shaved his beard and cut his hair short to hide his identity, but was arrested on July 9, two days after the incident in Sanaa district. His father, Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena leader from neighboring Palghar district, is also an accused in the case and is currently out on bail.
