To address the infiltration of heavily trained Pakistani terrorists in the Jammu region, the Indian Army is restructuring its deployments based on intelligence inputs and security needs. The Army has positioned around 500 Para Special Forces commandos in the area to hunt down the 50-55 terrorists from Pakistan who have entered the region with the intention of reviving terrorism, according to defense sources. The intelligence agencies have also bolstered their operations in the area, working to dismantle the terrorist support infrastructure, including the underground workers who aid the terrorists. The Army has already brought in additional troops, including one brigade of about 3,500-4,000 personnel, to counter Pakistan's proxy aggression in the region. The Army leadership on the ground is developing strategies to locate and eliminate the terrorists, who are equipped with the latest weapons and communication technology.
The Army already has an existing counter-terrorist infrastructure in the area, including the presence of two Rashtriya Rifles forces (Romeo and Delta) and other regular infantry divisions.The military has intensified operations in the area, aiming to disrupt the infrastructure that supports these terrorist groups, including their network of civilian collaborators. Ground commanders are actively developing strategies to identify and eliminate these terrorists, who are reportedly equipped with sophisticated weapons and communication technology.
