On Thursday evening, a civil defence drill is planned to take place across four states that share a border with Pakistan. The exercise will be held in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. This drill follows India's recent ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was initiated during the night of May 6 and 7, as a retaliatory measure for the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 tourists on April 22. The upcoming mock exercise aims to highlight the readiness for potential terrorist threats and will focus on assessing the efficacy of response methods in the face of a hostage situation or terror incident. In previous drills conducted in various states, Anti Terror Squads and commandos equipped with advanced weaponry recreated a realistic scenario of a terrorist assault.

India's military action through ‘Operation Sindoor’ involved targeting terrorist facilities in Pakistan and the Pakistan-occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir, successfully neutralizing more than 100 terrorists associated with factions like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. At 1:44 am on May 7, an official announcement from the government emphasized that India exhibited “significant restraint” in choosing targets and executing the operation, noting that “no military installations in Pakistan were hit.” Shortly after, the Indian Army shared a message on social media featuring a poster design that depicted ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, with a small bowl of vermilion—generally worn by married Hindu women—structuring the first 'O' of “Sindoor,” while the second 'O' was adorned with a touch of the powder.

In response to the Pahalgam terror incident, security organizations nationwide have heightened vigilance and are increasing preparatory drills. Authorities have indicated that such exercises will be ongoing at other major sites to facilitate swift, coordinated, and efficient action in the event of an actual threat. Concurrently, seven delegations composed of various political parties are visiting world capitals to counteract global disinformation and reinforce India’s firm stance against terrorism. This initiative aims to convey a collective message against terror and emphasize the necessity of global awareness, garnering considerable backing from community members.
