A very busy Friday morning happened at the Delhi airport where more than a hundred flights were delayed because of a problem in the air traffic control system. The airport officials are trying to fix the issue and expressed their apologies for the flight delays. A notice for travelers stated, "Flights at IGIA (Indira Gandhi International Airport) are being delayed because of a technical problem with the Air Traffic Control system. Our team is working with everyone involved, including DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited), to fix it as soon as possible." The officials urged passengers to keep in touch with their airlines for the most recent flight information. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) mentioned that the delays are caused by a technical problem in the Automatic Message Switching System, which is crucial for air traffic control data. "Controllers are manually handling flight plans, which is causing some delays. Technical teams are working hard to get the system back up and running," the AAI stated.
Many airlines have also told their customers to verify their flight status before going to the airport. The delays are causing longer wait times for passengers both at the airport and on the planes, Air India noted in a morning update, explaining that their flight attendants and ground staff are providing quick help to lessen the inconvenience for travelers. "A technical problem with the ATC system in Delhi is affecting flights for all airlines, causing delays and extended wait times at the airport and on the planes. We apologize for the trouble caused by this unexpected issue, which is out of our control, and we thank you for your understanding," the airline's travel notice stated. Budget airlines SpiceJet and IndiGo reported that flights in Delhi and several northern areas are affected by this disruption. According to an online travel update from SpiceJet, the crew and ground team are collaborating closely with airport authorities to lessen the effects and return to regular operations as quickly as possible.
