A significant demonstration has taken place outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi following the violent murder of a Hindu man named Dipu Chandra Das by an Islamist group in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, last week. This protest is organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal to speak out against what they claim are attacks on Hindus and destruction of their religious sites in Bangladesh. The police in Delhi have increased security around the High Commission due to the protests. Even with strong security measures in place, some protesters were seen pushing past police barriers to get closer to the diplomatic mission. According to reports, the demonstrators were able to breach at least two lines of barricades. "If we don’t speak up today, I’ll be a Dipu, and you’ll be a Dipu," said one protester. Another added, "Hindus are being murdered in Bangladesh. This is the land of Ram and Krishna. We don’t harm anyone, but our women and girls are assaulted there." Many protesters carried signs and shouted slogans demanding justice for Dipu Das. They also burned effigies of Muhammad Yunus, who is the acting leader of Bangladesh.

Security forces, meanwhile, had been prepared for the protest and had set up strict security measures outside the building to avoid any incidents. The area was protected with three layers of barriers, and police and paramilitary forces were stationed to manage the crowd. Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old worker in a garment factory, was killed by a mob and his body was burned over claims of blasphemy in Baluka, Mymensingh on December 19. At least 12 individuals have been detained for their alleged role in the murder. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh showed concern about the attacks on its diplomatic offices in India and summoned the Indian High Commissioner to address the events in New Delhi and Siliguri. The Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh stated, "Bangladesh condemns these acts of planned violence and intimidation against diplomatic sites, which risk compromising the safety of diplomatic staff and erode the principles of mutual respect and the values of peace and tolerance."

It also condemned the violence, pointing out threats to diplomatic staff and facilities, and requested that India ensure their protection. “The Government of Bangladesh urged the Government of India to carry out a detailed investigation into these events, take all necessary actions to prevent such occurrences in the future, and guarantee the safety and security of Bangladesh's diplomatic offices and related facilities in India,” the statement noted. The incidents include the vandalization at the Bangladesh Visa Centre in Siliguri on December 22, 2025, and a protest outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on December 20, 2025.
