Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in Uttar Pradesh on March 28 to launch Phase I of Noida International Airport. According to the PMO, he will also explore the terminal building at the Jewar airport located in Gautam Buddha Nagar. After that, around 12 noon, the Prime Minister will officially open Phase I of Noida International Airport and speak to the attendees at the event. The opening of Noida International Airport is an important achievement in India's aspiration to become a major player in global aviation. The airport is intended to be a key international entry point for the National Capital Region (NCR) and signifies a pivotal move in enhancing the nation’s airport facilities and improving both regional and international transport connections. Noida International Airport is the second international airport created for the Delhi NCR area, working alongside Indira Gandhi International Airport. Together, both airports will work as a unified aviation system, reducing overcrowding, increasing passenger capacity, and placing Delhi NCR among top global aviation centers.

Noida International Airport ranks as one of the largest new airport developments in India. Phase I of this airport has been built with an overall investment of about ₹11,200 crore through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. Initially, the airport will accommodate up to 12 million passengers each year, with the potential to expand to 70 million passengers yearly once fully developed. It boasts a 3,900-meter runway suitable for large aircraft, equipped with modern navigation technologies, including an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced runway lighting that supports efficient operations regardless of the weather or time. Additionally, the airport features a strong cargo infrastructure, including a Multi-Modal Cargo Hub with an Integrated Cargo Terminal and logistics zones. This cargo facility is planned to manage over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of cargo each year, with the capacity to grow to approximately 18 lakh metric tonnes, and contains a 40-acre Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) center.

Noida International Airport has been designed as a sustainable project ready for the future, aiming to operate as a facility with net-zero emissions by incorporating energy-saving technologies and eco-friendly methods. Its architectural style is influenced by Indian culture, featuring aspects that remind people of traditional ghats and havelis, skillfully fusing cultural beauty with contemporary infrastructure. Positioned along the Yamuna Expressway, Noida International Airport is set to be a multi-modal transport center, ensuring smooth connections between road, rail, metro, and regional transport systems for both passengers and cargo.
