When Chintada Ravindra's spouse went to visit her family, he reached out to his girlfriend, Polipalli Mounika, to spend some time at his home in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Unfortunately, their meeting became a fatal encounter for Mounika. An argument started between them that resulted in Mounika being murdered and her body dismembered. Ravindra, who is 35 years old and works in the Navy at the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Dega, met 29-year-old Mounika on a dating app in 2021. They formed a romantic bond and often met at different places in Visakhapatnam, like parks and cinemas, according to the police. A few weeks prior, Ravindra's wife had left for her parents' home in Vizianagaram. Realizing it was a good opportunity to spend time with Mounika, he decided to invite her over on a Sunday afternoon.
Later that evening, a confrontation reportedly escalated, leading Ravindra to allegedly stab Mounika. He dismembered her body, placed some parts in a bag, and took them to a remote area to dispose of them, while keeping the other pieces in his fridge at home. Afterward, Ravindra went to a police station and admitted to what he had done. He claimed that Mounika had borrowed Rs 3.5 lakh from him and frequently threatened to tell his wife about their affair. This caused many arguments between them, including the one on the day she was killed, according to the authorities.
When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered dismembered body parts in the fridge and the house. Mounika's head was absent, leading the police to believe Ravindra may have discarded it somewhere else. A special police unit has been created to search for the missing pieces of her body. A murder charge has been filed, and further inquiries are ongoing.
This case serves as a chilling reminder of the horrific murder of Shraddha Walkar on May 18, 2022. Walkar was reportedly strangled by her live-in partner, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, in their apartment in Delhi. He allegedly cut her body into pieces and stored the remains in a refrigerator before scattering them in different locations around the city over several days to evade capture.
