A 48-year-old IT engineer working for Tata Consultancy Services in Pune has tragically taken his own life due to alleged bullying at work, as reported by the police. The engineer, Amit Abhay Brahme, left a note claiming he was harassed by two senior staff members named Archana and Shashwati. He also accused a colleague he once considered a friend, named Vinod Palicha, of making false accusations against him to damage his reputation at the IT center in Hinjewadi, Pune. The police have initiated a case for encouraging suicide against the three individuals mentioned. Brahme died by suicide in his home on June 2. In the course of their investigation, police found a two-page letter in his room. Those close to him reported that the note revealed a distressing truth about the mental harassment employees endure in the company.

In his letter, Brahme claimed that he was unjustly stripped of valuable projects, while Archana and Shashwati subjected him to mental harassment. He wrote that successful and quality tasks were intentionally taken away from him, leaving him with tough assignments that were impossible to complete on time. The note also remarked about being humiliated repeatedly in front of his team and other colleagues, along with constant pressure to resign. He blamed his friend Palicha for supposedly submitting untrue complaints against him to ruin his reputation among his coworkers. Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Yadav stated that a case for encouraging suicide has been registered against the three people mentioned in the letter. No arrests have been made thus far, he added. "We are thoroughly investigating every technical and corporate aspect regarding this case," Yadav assured.

In their statement, the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate has called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to consider the broader issue of whether there are enough measures in place to recognize employee distress, address workplace issues, and prevent such tragic events. NITES claims to be the only registered union in Maharashtra created by IT professionals. "Brahme resorted to this drastic action after allegedly experiencing ongoing mental harassment and humiliation at his job. . . Earlier this year, in January, 24-year-old employee Sujal Vinod Oswal was also found dead on the TCS campus in Hinjewadi, Pune. Although the details of that incident are still under investigation, the fact that two employees connected to the same company have died within a few months cannot be dismissed or regarded as a normal occurrence," said NITES.
