Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh while stating with assurance on Friday that India and America are absolutely necessary partners said that the two nations are working together to give the cooperation a new sense of purpose, widening and deepening it in diverse directions.

Further on,  Dr. Singh expressed in a joint media interaction accompanied by U.S. President Barack Obama that he have always believed that India and America are absolutely necessary partners. At the same time during the time that he have been Prime Minister, and particularly, during the time when President Obama and he have worked together, he think President Obama has made an outstanding contribution to strengthening, widening and deepening of their cooperation in diverse fields.  He added that when he came to America in 2005, in written statement to US Congress he said there are partnerships on the basis of principles as well as partnerships based on  realism. At the same time Dr. Singh then said that in the case of Indo-American cooperation, both principles of commitment to democratic values, rule of law and realism both combine to make us strong and durable partners. And he is very delighted to say that in the preceding five years that he have worked together accompanied by President Obama that process has got strengthened in every possible manner. Dr. Singh, who met President Obama at the White House here, said the two nations are cooperating in expanding the frontiers of trade, investment and technology.

Dr. Singh continued saying that as well as outside the area of trade, technology and investment, they are exploring avenues of cooperation in new areas like energy cooperation, cooperation in the field of environment, cooperation in the field of defence and security related, cooperation with regard to intelligence gathering and counter-terrorism. According to the Dr. Singh  in all these areas, India needs United States to be standing by their side.

Describing the U.S. as an ‘important strategic partner’, Dr. Singh had earlier said that under President Barack Obama''s regime, India has taken several steps to widen and deepen its bilateral partnership in diverse fields. He said that the US is one of India's most important trading partners at the same time important provider of investment and technology support for India's development and they need the United States on their side when they intend to give new added force towards development programs. Then again, during the present visit, they will review the advancement that has been made and also what further can be done to give added meaning and contest to this partnership. Dr. Singh further said during his meeting with Obama, both sides would also review the international situation. He said that they will also review the international situation particularly with reference to international economic situation and other important areas like South East Asia, Middle East and West Asia. As a matter of fact this happens to be the third Obama-Singh summit meeting, the previous ones being held in 2009 and 2010.

There can be no doubt in the fact that India – US relationship is very necessary. Both being powerful nations in their own expertise it's always good to understand each other and work hand in hand for a global development and peace.

That's what is more important!
