The Delhi High Court has stayed the release of Madhuri Dixit-starrer 'Gulaab Gang' following a complaint of activist Sampat Pal. The film is based on the life of Sampat Pal.

The activist had sought a restraining order, from the High Court, on the release of the movie as the makers of the film had not taken prior from her before shooting the film. Sampat has alleged that the film's promos shows her, played by Madhuri Dixit, in bad light. This will negatively affect her reputation.

Sampat Pal had formed Gulabi Gang, a group of women vigilantes who wore pink sari in Uttar Pradesh.

Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, who stayed the movie's release, stated that if 'Gulaab Gang' is allowed to be released Sampat Pal's reputation would suffer irreparable damage. A person's reputation once lost cannot be brought back, and the damage can't be compensated with monetary benefits, added Sachdeva.

The film was to release this Friday (Mar. 7). 'Gulaab Gang' will see Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla share screen space for the first time in their career.
