BYD has formally unveiled the Atto 3 Evo, nearly a year after the updated exterior was first presented in February 2025. The newest model offers important mechanical and technical enhancements, making it more competitive in the international electric vehicle market. The most significant update is the new larger 74.8 kWh battery pack, which replaces the previous 60.5 kWh model. This enhancement increases the WLTP-certified driving range to 510 km, which was previously 418 km. The standard rear-wheel-drive Evo version now generates 313 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, a notable improvement from the older front-wheel-drive version. Consequently, the acceleration is better, with the 0-100 km/h time now stated to be 5.5 seconds, while the maximum speed is rated at 180 km/h. For those who want more speed, BYD has launched an all-wheel-drive Evo variant. This version, using the same battery, produces 449 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, allowing a remarkable 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h. However, this comes with a slight decrease in WLTP range to 470 km.

Another significant improvement includes the change from a 400V to an 800V electrical system. This provides quicker charging, with maximum rates increasing from 88 kW to 220 kW. Even with the bigger battery, charging duration has been enhanced: the Evo now charges from 10 to 80 percent in 25 minutes, compared to 29 minutes before for charging from 30 to 80 percent. The battery also features vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing outside devices to be powered at up to 3 kW. Inside, the Atto 3 Evo keeps its well-known interior design but integrates several modern enhancements. A new 8.8-inch digital display is located in front of the steering wheel, while a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen in the center has been updated to include Google services for better connectivity. The gear selector has been moved to the steering column, creating more space in the center console and giving the interior a neater, more spacious appearance. Higher-end trims offer luxurious additions like a head-up display and heated rear seats, increasing comfort for passengers.

In terms of size, the Atto 3 Evo maintains the same dimensions but takes advantage of BYD's e-Platform 3.0, which optimizes interior space. The trunk capacity has increased to 490 liters, expandable to 1,360 liters when the back seats are folded down, along with a new 101-liter front trunk for added convenience. The SUV also can now tow up to 1,500 kg, which improves its overall versatility.
