Lifetime's Aaliyah biopic has a new lead lady Alexandra Shipp. The newcomer has been roped in after the exit of Zendaya Coleman.
Alexandra Shipp will play R&B singer Aaliyah, who passed away in 2001.
Wendy Williams recently revealed that Alexandra Shipp will portray the late singer Aaliyah.
Wendy's Twitter post announced: “I’m excited to exec produce the Aaliyah @lifetimetv movie w/ @DebraMChase. Prod starts later this month and @AlexShipppp will play Aaliyah”.
Earlier Zendaya was to play the role of Aaliyah but last month she exited from the project saying the script for the biopic was not yet ready.
The upcoming biopic titled “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B” will be based on the late singer life. Her biography will chronicle her life till her death on a plane crash at 22 years of age.
The film will premiere on Lifetime in the fall.
