X-Men movie producer Lauren Shuler has tipped that Channing Tatum might play the role of Gambit in the next X-Men. Yes, Tatum is all set to crash the sci-fi/geek genre in a big, big way this year with Jupiter Ascending, and his big debut in X-Men might well be another leap ahead.

“I’m dying to do a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum. That doesn’t have to be a great big movie. It’s a thief in New Orleans, it’s a whole different story. He’s on board, and I have to get the studio on board. How can anyone resist Channing? He’s such a sweetheart.”

In the past, Tatum had gone on record to say he’d love to play Gambit, and since he is probably the hottest lead man of the moment, Shuler couldn't resist.

For all the hate he warrants, Tatum has practically acted his way across drama, romance, action, thriller, comedy, man-beef erotica and surprised his critics and wowed the audience every time. The question now is: When would this Gambit movie hit the theaters?

“Days of Future Past” hits theaters this summer, then “X-Men: Apocalypse” arrives in 2016; “X-Force” and other ventures like “Deadpool” are still on deck. Only if Fox plans to release multiple X universe films per year, we might get to see the movie very soon. But again, a lot depends on Tatum's dates as well.
