Baz Luhrmann is keen to make a film on the life of Elvis Presley. 'The Great Gatsby' director is in negotiations to direct a biopic on the Rock and Roll king.

Luhrmann is in talks with Warner Bros for several weeks to helm a film based on the iconic singer's life, according to reports. Elvis Presley died in 1977 at the age of 42.

If Luhrmann and Warner Bros. agree on a deal, then in all probability the director's wife will also join the project as costume designer and production designer.

Kelly Marcel, who wrote the scripy for 'Fifty Shades of Grey', is already writing an original screenplay for the movie.

However it's not clear as to which period of the iconic singer's life the film would depict.
