Bill Condon is all set to direct 'Beauty and the Beast' movie. The director has signed an agreement with Disney to helm the live-action film.

Condon had been in the reckoning to direct the project for several months. He has directed films like Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. Recently he directed 'The Fifth Estate'.

The animated version of 'Beauty and the Beast' was released in 1991. The film earned $425 million across the world.

Reports of live action 'Beauty and the Beast' film comes just when the latest Disney live-action film 'Maleficent' was a grand success. Angelina Jolie-starring 'Maleficent' earned over $170 million worldwide in its opening weekend.

Disney's other live-action films 'Wizard of Oz' and 'Alice in Wonderland' were also big hits. At present Disney has a live-action Cinderella film releasing in 2015 and another live action project titled 'Jungle Book' under development.
