Kim Basinger will appear in the Warner Bros.' thriller "The Nice Guys". The actress will join actors Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling for the period noir thriller.

Shane Black is directing the upcoming movie which is based in Los Angeles in the 1970s.

The story centres around a private eye (Gosling) and a hired leg breaker (Crowe). The duo need to work together to solve the mystery of a missing girl and the death of a porn star, which seems unrelated to their case.

Basinger is playing the character of a chief justice with dubious interests.

Matt Bomer, Beau Knapp and Keith David also feature in the movie. They were recently cast as villains in the film.

Black and Anthony Bagarozzi have scripted the upcoming movie, which is slated for release June 17, 2016.

Joel Silver and Ken Kao are producing the project.

Basinger is credited for her supporting role in L.A. Confidential, which won her an Academy Award in 1997. Her recent films include 'Grudge Match'. Her upcoming movies include "I Am Here".
