Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned on Tuesday that India is anticipating over 200 billion dollars in investments in the upcoming two years, highlighting the increasing global interest in the nation’s artificial intelligence and advanced technology sectors. “There are two categories of interest. One category is investment. We expect more than 200 billion dollars in investments in the next two years. The second category involves deep tech funding from venture capitalists. And the third category is related to India's creativity and digital public infrastructure,” Vaishnaw explained to ANI during the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Expanding on how India's digital system is speeding up adoption, he stated, “Thanks to the digital public infrastructure, there is a strong technology framework led by the Prime Minister. This framework helps speed up the use of AI in India. Everyone agrees on this. ”
The minister observed significant enthusiasm from global CEOs, especially concerning deep tech startups and infrastructure ventures. “There is a lot of interest in investing in India, particularly in deep tech startups and infrastructure, as well as in discovering new solutions that can benefit large populations. The way our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established this digital public infrastructure in our country offers a great advantage for any solution that needs to be applied on a large scale,” he remarked. Speaking about the excitement surrounding the summit, Vaishnaw noted that attendance has been tremendous, especially among young people and researchers. “There is great enthusiasm at the AI Summit. Over 300,000 young individuals, researchers, and students have signed up. All the sessions are fully booked. There is a lot of energy, especially from the youth. This summit is generating a new wave of enthusiasm across the country. The excitement about using AI to tackle major issues affecting large populations is evident among the youth here,” he shared.
He also stressed the importance of finding a balance between innovation and protections. “By finding this balance, we need to advance with this new technology,” he remarked, referring to addressing large-scale economic and social issues while managing potential risks. The India AI Impact Summit has gathered policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and innovators to explore how artificial intelligence can drive economic growth and social change. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver the opening speech on Thursday, which will establish the framework for increased global collaboration and India's approach to inclusive and development-oriented AI.
