BJP MP Poonamben falls into drain in Gujarat

BJP MP Poonamben Madam falls into drain in Jalla Ram Nagar in Gujarat and was immediately rushed to hospital. The rescue operations were done by a fire brigade team to save the MP.

The incident happened during an anti-encroachment drive, when the MP and others standing on the top of a drain and the cover fell into it. She was speaking to a group of people as a part of the drive, when she fell down. The drive happened in a slum in her constituency of  Jamnagar city. It is located 330 kilometres away from the state capital of Gandhinagar. The MP was standing on a cement covering slab on an open drain. The makeshift bridge suddenly caved in. According to the police, she had head injury.

Madam’s doctor Maheshwari said that her condition was stable. “She has suffered a 4-inch wound on her head that caused bleeding which is now under control. We have not detected any fracture in X-Ray reports but CT scan remains to be done. She has hurt her left shoulder but has not sustained a fracture. All in all, her condition is stable, her vitals normal, and she is conscious and there is nothing to worry about. She will be able to go home earliest by tomorrow morning.”
