India reports 2,38,018 new cases of Coronavirus

A total number of 2,38,018 new cases of coronavirus are reported in the country in the last 24 hours in India. The new cases are 20,071 less than yesterday which may be a good sign but the spread of coronavirus is huge. 1,57,421 people recovered from coronavirus in the last 24 hours in India. There are 17,36,628 active cases of coronavirus in India and 310 people passed away in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate increased again and it stands at 14.43 percent. The total number of Omicron cases reported in India are 8891 and the increase is by 8.31 percent when compared to yesterday. More than 3.5 crore youngsters aged between 15 and 18 years received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The precautionary doses are given for the frontline workers in the country along with the people who are aged above 60 years.

As per the reports, India will begin vaccinating the children aged between 12 and 14 years from March this year. Bharat Biotech's Covaxin and Zydus Cadila's ZyCoV-D are the vaccines approved for children. The recovery rate in India is said to be 94.09 percent. Andhra Pradesh ex-Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been tested positive for coronavirus and he is in isolation. Most of the states ruled out the option of lockdown and decided to impose night curfews and restrictions in public places. The weekly positivity rate in the country is said to be 14.92 percent. The total number of vaccine doses administered in India till date are said to be 158.04 crores and close to 80 lakh vaccine doses are administered yesterday.

As per a study, some of the coronavirus patients may be infectious even after 10 days of completing their quarantine period. The entire research has been published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases.
