After 40 MLAs turned Rebels, the government of Maharashtra is left in minority. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray submitted his resignation even before facing the floor test. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has been holding talks with the rebel MLAs. As per the update, Eknath Shinde will take the oath as the new Chief Minister of the state today at 7 PM. Rebel MLAs Chief Eknath Shinde along with Devendra Fadnavis reached the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor BS Koshyari. After this, they attended the media briefing and Fadnavis announced that Eknath Shinde will take oath as the new Chief Minister of the state.

The roads heading to and from airport are completely blocked to facilitate Eknath Shinde's convoy. Shinde landed in Mumbai today from Goa. Devendra Fadnavis declared that he would return as the Chief Minister right before the 2019 polls. After the BJP and Shiv Sena alliance broke up, Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was formed in which Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP are members. The alliance collapsed soon and Devendra Fadnavis plauued a crucial role in dethroning the government from power. Eknath Shinde has been taking the control of the rebel MLAs who were shifted to Gujarat and then to Assam. They were in Goa yesterday. The new cabinet of Eknath Shinde will be announced soon.
