The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has embarked on a clothing line for a British charity that helps out of work women find a job.

Meghan appeared at the John Lewis department store’s reception to showcase a collection of workwear and accessories she created with designer and familiar Misha Nonoo.

Titled the ‘Smart Set Capsule Collection,’ the clothing line supports Smart Works, a charity that helps women land jobs. The line includes professional attires such as a blazer, tote bag, and trousers. Meghan, being a royal patron of the charity, provides women with training and interview attires, flattering for all sizes, at just £19.50, or $24.

Besides partnering with designer Misha Nonoo, the Smart Set also collaborates with John Lewis & Partners, Marks & Spencer, and Jigsaw.

Meghan said:

As women, it is 100% our responsibility, I think, to support and uplift each other.

According to Meghan, the items will offer the confidence and support clients need to enter the workforce and take an important step in building a career.

Since the launch of Smart Works six years ago by former Vogue editor Juliet Hughes-Hallett, the organization has helped 15,000 women re-enter the workforce.

In a statement, Hughes-Hallett tells BAZAAR.com:

We have dressed and trained every woman as if she was the only one and made each and every client feel exceptional.

Talking about Meghan’s clothing line, Hallett said:

The Smart Set capsule collection will make a significant difference in our ability to dress our clients in the high-quality clothes and accessories they need, giving them the opportunity to regain their confidence, look fabulous, and get the job.

The reception was one of her first royal engagements since the birth of her and Harry's son Archie in May.

The idea to launch a clothing line was born just after Meghan became patron of the organization and after listening to clients who wanted to feel comfy and confident, the Duchess realized that while there’s never a shortage of donations, Smart Works' stock didn’t every time feature every size, or classic, key staples required to anchor an outfit.
