A new study has revealed that women who fake orgasms frequently are quite likely to cheat their spouses or partners. For the study 121 men and 138 women, who were in romantic relationships, were questioned by Ryan M. Ellsworth and Drew H. Bailey to understand the female orgasm and its evolution. The researchers started with the hypothesis that orgasm evolved with a view to prevent women from straying.

The study suggests that women who fake orgasms frequently were more likely to cheat their partners, then women who may cheat due to the intensity of female orgasms. This study emphasizes that faked orgasm had a positive association with present, past and future sexual infidelity in great probability.

However, earlier studies had suggested that women fake orgasms to protect their partner's male ego and to keep the relationship going. The study on female sexual behaviour has been published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior.
