International Cricket Council on Monday inducted Adam Gilchrist, the former Australian wicket-keeper and Waqar Younis the great pace bowler from Pakistan into the ICC's Hall of Fame. ICC said that with the induction of Gilchrist and Waqar the total number of male cricketers in the Hall of Fame is 71, besides two more players will be added to the tally by month end.

Gilchrist was a great batsman, who lead the Australian team to victory three times - 1999, 2003 and 2007 - in the World Cup. In his 12-year career, ending in 2008, he played 96 Tests, scored 5,570 runs and took 416 wickets behind the stumps. He played 287 one-day internationals, scoring 9,619 runs and took 472 wickets.

42-year-old Waqar took 373 wickets in 87 Tests and dismissed 416 batsmen in 262 one-day internationals. He retired after playing the 2003 World Cup. Gilchrist will be honoured in Perth on Friday, during the third Ashes Test, while Waqar will be feted on Wednesday in Dubai, during the Twenty20 international match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
