Cancer survivor and one of India's ace batsman Yuvraj Singh is organizing a cancer awareness programme for school children across the country through his initiative YouWeCan.
Under this initiative, Yuvraj, who recovered from a rare form of germ cell cancer in 2012, plan to cover over 2,000 schools across 26 towns and cities, starting with Delhi, Mumbai and ending in Chandigarh, a media release said on Friday.
"Every year over 12 million people succumb to the life-threatening disease and in most cases cancer goes undetected till the last stage. I want to create awareness about early detection and also raise funds for free cancer testing for those who cannot afford it. I sincerely urge people to come forward and join the cause," said Yuvraj in his appeal.
YouWeCan is an initiative of the Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YSF) in association with Khelnama, a community for sports lovers.
