It's confirmed!The United Arab Emirates will host the first leg of IPL. And the first of the 20 matches will kick off with defending champions Mumbai Indians squaring off against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 16 in Abu Dhabi.

The schedule for the first leg of the upcoming IPL series was announced by the IPL Governing Council after a meeting in Chennai on Wednesday.

The UAE leg of the IPL will run from April16-30. The first phase of the IPL had to be shifted to a different country owing to general elections in the country.

The second leg of the tournament might be held in Bangladesh. However, if government agrees to provide security to the event, then the second leg of IPL VII could be held in India between May 1-12.

The schedule of the second and third phase of the tournament are yet to be released.

April 21: Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Daredevils in Abu Dhabi

April 22: Kings XI Punjab vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in Sharjah
