The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that floated a Consultation Paper already, has announced that it will come out with recommendations concerning on call drops by mid-October and compensation to consumers.

R.S. Sharma, TRAI chairman said, “We have sought comments from operators till September 21 and counter comments by September 28 after which there will be an open house discussion. I expect that by October 10-15, we will give the final recommendations in this regard.”

So as to determine the improvement in telecom services offered by operators, tests are to be conducted in Mumbai and Delhi, said Mr. Sharma. And in case of no improvement in the situation, the regulator will check the problem by crossing the bridge, Mr Sharma added.

TRAI is also expected to come out within a couple of weeks with an information paper regarding the service quality of calls, particularly in Delhi and Mumbai, Mr Sharma added.
